Successful Germination
This photograph shows the pot after seven days. Germination is more or less completed (70%) and the pot can be removed from the saturated conditions and placed in humid ones.
I provide these by using the same covered seed trays, but not usually having water standing in the base and up the side of the pots. I will, however, occasionally place water in the base and approximately 5mm up the sides of the pots to give them a really good soak. At this point, algae growth can be a serious problem. This is discussed in the following section.
